My Van Is Really The Anti-Christ

Well, the beat goes on or is that me banging my head against a wall until I pass out?

As you've read earlier, The Anti-Christ is now kaput. Call the Waambulance, I'm freaking out.

Mr Coffee called our local trusty, outstanding mechanic and they said it would be $2200 for the transmission. I can't stop laughing. This is not happening. We've already been sucked dry these last three months to the tune of $1500, the van is 12 years old, and is due for it's scheduled blown head gasket in about 10K miles. I would cry if not for this pathetic laughing.

Mr Coffee and I joked we should leave The Anti-Christ overnight with the keys in it but since it only drives in neutral, I doubt a car thief would get it out of the driveway.

I've never hated a vehicle as much as this one. Hate is a selective word. You can dislike many things: lima beans, Ugg boots, giant car spoilers. But hate is a special word reserved for taxes and people who talk loud in a movie theater. And Anti-Christ vehicles. It's been said but I emphasize to you, my dear reader, If you ever find yourself in a position to buy a vehicle from friends or family? Don't do it. Just don't. Nothing good ever comes from this.

In the meantime, we have no money for a vehicle like everyone else in the US right now, no credit, and Mr Coffee's work has suddenly slowed down. I'm walking nearly ¾ a mile to my daughter's school in 26F degree weather (that's 13F degrees with the windchill) and I'm walking back with her. I also start school in the first week of January. Automobiles are never thoughtful about their imposing inconveniences, are they?

Just think of me today. Thanks all...

I will most certainly be thinking of you today, my dear. And I agree with you -> NEVER buy a vehicle from friends or family. My tried-and-true motto when it comes to vehicles is this -> buy Japanese.

And yes, it's pretty bad when even car thieves won't steal your car. A stark reminder that even criminals have standards.

Jenn, you are most deserving of a little 'whining' over this! Good grief! I saw your comment about the van only driving in neutral on Twitter so I had to come see what that was all about-

Have faith, my tall friend (I loved your comment you left me the other day regarding Barbie!), just when you're ready to give up, the wind of change will come. Faith, girlfriend. I have it. Am praying for you!

BUNDLE UP in the meantime, its AN ORDER!

OH NO!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your car. I agree about not buying from friends or family - not a good thing.

I'll pray something good happens!

Oh no. Horrid timing. I am so sorry. I can't imagine walking to and from school to drop off/pick up your daughter. Geesh. Brrr. It is so cold out right now.

I'm glad my kids are homeschooled!

Nooooooooo. Bee I am so pi**ed off for you. I get this a little in that we did Miss E's room up and discovered a small crack in her window which means we need to invest in a great big gi-normous double glazed monstrousity soon. Tsk.

If I could give your car the kiss of life I would, I'd even use tongues. If it makes you feel any better, it's looking very cool here hon. Hugs.

We don't sell cars to each other in my family, we just give them to each other and then make my Dad fix them if they break down.
Replacing a tranny is no fun, I hope something works out soon.
I'm thinking that maybe you should get a unicycle...then you could do the school run in STYLE.

YIPES! (Found you through Wits End) That van wouldn't happen to be a Chrysler bought from your in-laws? oh, wait - that was me. Bundle up girlfriend.
We returned to fail-safe honda's after we drove the last two vehicles (both from my in-laws) into the ground...
''I solemnly swear to never buy a vehicle from in-laws again' Best of luck.

Oh that is awful. I hope something magical happens for you.

It's me, the Holiday Armadillo! And if I could, I would bring you a new van for Christmas.

By the way, "ugly bucket of boogers" hits much too close to the mark.

That's the pits. Meh.

Oh man, that is awful.

We got hit a couple weeks ago and they took the bumper off to see the damage and wha-la! the insides of the car UNDERNEATH the bumper on the side that was NOT hit was all crushed in. Apparently someone who owned the car before just put a bumper over it and did not get it fixed. Now I have to pay for that madness while the other part is (thankfully) covered by the other person's insurance.

I always wonder WHY at Christmas time this has to be so. It IS almost laughable. Hey kids, want a candy cane for Christmas? That is pretty much what it gets to.

Plus, there was going to be a bonus at some point with the other half's work, and apparently under the "plan" of someone else it didn't work out because of the economy or something, and so everyone else gets a bonus (a big one) in the company except the people on the crew of this "plan." We get nothing. Oh well.

I hope all goes well with you. I will be praying. God is good and faithful, my friend.

Good grief, girl.

Whine away.

And while you're at it, get drunk. You might not notice the cold so much.

I hate all this has happened. I'll be praying for y'all.

there's a 20 year old cadillac down the street for $500.

Oh my goodness...
I'm just sayin' I've been there. I get it. And if I weren't in a squeeze right now myself- I'd send you a hundred bucks to help you out. Hugs to you, and hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel is the headlights of a new car!

Whining is good for the soul.

Unless it's the kids' whining.

I have a 13 year old Windstar.
'nuff said.
